I've been doing a lot of knife research trying to decide what to get before the Maine trip, so expect a lot of posts in the knives section! pirat

Anyone have an opinion on the Helle Eggen Hunter? Stumbled across it today, seems to be an EXTREMELY low priced bush craft style knife...whats the deal?

Great knives for the money. I brought a Helle Fjellkniven on the last trip up north. Scandi knives are probably my favorite style knife made. They are wicked easy to sharpen due to the angle of the edge and the fact that there is no secondary bevel. I sold my Helle in a moment of weakness but need to replace it. A knife with a scandi edge will cut through wood much easyier then a hollow grind or convex edge. If have ever used a Mora you know what I'm talking about.

Buy it, you will not regret it. And if you do you should have no problems selling it to me. Wink

Found a website that sells Helle Blades with no handles for $16.72! Sounds like an arts and crafts project for Maine!! Very Happy

I love it. Looks great and very useful in the woods... They say professional hunting guides hate to get stuck with guys who bring huge knives to hunting camp cause it shows their true ignorance and in experience. Smaller blades as you know make skinning an animal much easier... It will also be an awesome bush craft knife, I really like the looks and the low price. Lots of quality there for the money...
