Steyr Firearms of the Future

Author: Chad Reimer

Steyr firearms the cutting edge technology of the 17th century is still cutting edge today. With the coming of a new series in precision bolt action rifles and tactical rifles, Steyr Arms has managed to not only keep their reputation of high quality, but lead the path to innovations, with designs like the Steyr Aug. In the beginning Steyr Arms began with a small family owned firm, and later became one of the top firearms producers in Europe.

Steyr rifles might be well known for the Bullpup design, or the Steyr scout, which are very popular rifles. But the first in a series of innovations started with the first breech loaded rifle, which greatly reduced reloading time for Steyr rifles. By 1885 Steyr had receiver its first military contract with the Austrian Hungarian Army, which made Steyr firearms a common name, within firearms enthusiast. By 1889 the Steyr Mannlicher bolt action was developed and became an instant hit with civilians and military officials alike.

By 1905 Steyr pistols became a priority, as Steyr Arms saw the future, and focused a great deal of work into the design of Mannlicher pistols, as well as the Steyr M1912, both of which became milestones in the auto-loading firearms technology. During World War I Steyr was able to produce roughly 4,000 firearms daily, which even by today’s standards is quite impressive. Sides from the firearms Steyr factories were able to produce plane engines, bicycles, and other goods for the military.

After the World War Steyr Arms had guidelines to follow, which forbid the production of firearms, and once more after World War II? In the 1950s a US High Commissioner, General Mark Clark approved the production of firearms once more. Steyr became the base for new state of the art firearms productions in Europe. The first of which was the Steyr STG 58, that was a new start in military weapons development.

Steyr Aug is the latest in the newest line of tactical rifles; in fact the Steyr Aug became so popular that US civilians won’t be left without. Micro Small Arms Research began to produce Steyr Aug rifles, based off the Steyr Arms design. The Aug has many mixed reviews mainly the Bullpup design, with most shooters able to adapt to the new design, seems to be the only draw back discussed within Aug groups.

But Steyr firearms have also saw a large demand for their Steyr M1A pistols, which have been taking the industry by storm. Keeping in mind that Steyr made many of the modern pistol innovations, it’s no shock they are still making waves for competitors. In conclusion we can look forward to seeing a large ripple effect from Steyr, when people thought they were down and out they have always managed to rise like a phoenix from the flames of despair.

The Steyr firearms have a wide range of models, something for all type of shooters. Even the tightest budget can affordably obtain a Steyr firearm, because it’s a freedom for all Americans not just the wealthy and Steyr Arms makes it possible, without sacrificing precision.
