| I think we all agree that this country is headed down the road to Socialism. And I think all of us here are opposed to this. My question is do you think this country can pull together and oppose the shit going on?
I truly think that too much more of this nonsense and we need to take this country back. Unfortunately, I think there aren't enough Americans who have the stomach to forcibly oppose this "government". I think that we also are lacking a strong leadership for the opposition.
This all makes me think back on history, where like minded individuals met in taverns in secrecy to discuss opposition. They had great men like Thomas Paine, Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and the like. The only public voices I've heard are Glenn Beck, maybe Ron Paul and Ted Nugent. Even though we have all this technology, I don't think we could pull it together. The internet would never work 'cause we all know the govt is looking over our shoulders.
I'm frustrated. I'd like to think that I would answer the call because I love this country and don't want my kids to inherit the shitstorm that's coming their way.
What's it gonna take? What are the sparks that will light the flame of revolution? Can the people of this country pull together and get it done or are we all just soft? Will we stand by and let this happen to us?

| i think most of this country is soft also thiers way to many background differences these days maybe if all these different ethnic backgrounds can stop fighting between themselves and stand togther then maybe it could happen
during these times this country is in now ,if anyone would stand up and try to form something they would more than likely be locked up as a terrorist
like you im a father also im a uncle my son, nieces and nephews future is always on my mind and all i can do is shake my head becuase i know what is coming
when the time comes im glad to have like minded friends that have prepared and are ready

| We can see a hint of the unrest in the town meetings over health care today. Most people are pissed but will not do anything about it unless others....like, thousands, stand togeher and organize. You are right, we do lack a leader....need someone slightly militant. The govt just turns the heat up slowly, I have always said. They just institute more regs, laws, forms, etc every so often, slowly taking more rights every time. We just bitch about it for a little and it all becomes part of daily life again...what a shame. Yes, if people start to rebel in small numbers, they are going to be made example. Arrested, labeled, then silenced and the govt would make more laws and have his all seeing eye out even more upon us. There is safety in numbers, otherwise people just get arrested and situations are worse. Covert ops to start? Not sure what will start it but a lot of things are happening fast right now so it may snowball into some serious shit. Hell, we might have a new start in 2012. I do what I can to prepare, I just wait now to make my moves wisely. Good post Tree of Liberty. | |

| I agree that we need "change" in this Country the two previous leaders and especially the last leader frigged us up pretty bad. I just did not think the type of "change" would be Socialism. I have read a lot of books on the Cuban Revolution and some of the things going on now happened in Cuba in the 60's. Such as big Gov owning businesses. People being told to donate a work day fot their Country etc. People in this Country are pretty lazy and never want to upset the status quo. If you look at something as unconstitutional as the Patriot Act and then remember that it was passed by being attached to anotehr bill and was never even read before being voted on! That shit would just not fly in some other Countries. And the fact that no one did shit about it once it was enacted. My thoughts are the current leader is going to Frig us up some more and the next electoral candidates entire platform will be dedicated to fixing our Country. Not unlike what O ran on in the first place. If Clinton could lie to a Jury on national TV and no one wanted to impeach him I can't imagine anything happening to this clown. I think we may be along for the ride. For better or for worse. It's a good sign the news has been completely filled with pissed off town hall meeting across the Country in regardsto Health Care Reform. It's also a good thing when Tea parties are taking place. It shows us that some Americans are fed up and what this crap to stop. I jsut wish that more people would take notice before it's to late. [img] [/img] | |

| I don't believe that a full scale militant revolution would ever be successfull in the United States. It is just unrealistic to think that anyone would be able to get enough Americans on the same page as to organize them into a "rebel force".
The only other option would be a regime change thru some sort of democratic process. Would electing a "revolutionary" party leader work? Who knows, but take Iran as an example (not that I'm trying to draw too many comparisons between the US and Iran!!). Iran had a legitimate canidate that stood for a change that it appeared most of the country agreed with. After an intense campaign and record breaking voter turn out, it was decided that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the elections. Riots ensued and the people were outraged, but Ahmadinejad is still in power today. Do you think that the American powers-that-be would sit back and watch control of the country slip thru their fingers?
Honestly, I don't know what it will take to turn this country around. It just seems that Americans can hardly agree on much of anything anymore. People are more worried about facebook and twitter, than whether or not their civil liberties are being taken away. It's going to take someone as intelligent and dedicated as our founding father to bring any real change to the United States.
