6.8x45mm Any thoughts?

Any thoughts on the cartridge that is shaking up the US Special Forces Community?

This round is proven more effective than that of the standard NATO 5.56 round, not only with accuracy, but with penetration and improved terminal ballistics . Unfortunately, due to the fact that this round was developed outside the normal process the military follows to improve thier combat capabilities, it is meeting skepticism and resistance within the upper echelon of military leaders.

In my opinion, the Military should utilize the best and most effective weaponry in its available arsenal and I am an advocate for the 6.8x45mm round, as many of SpecOps community are...

I think the 6.8 is a great round I also think that sticking with 7.62 nato from the beginning could have solved a lot of problems. I have a feeling that it will still be years before there is a replacement across the board for the 5.56.

When I do the gun shows a lot of people ask for 6.8. I believe it is a great concept. The problem is the military is so slow, a new better round will be out before they approve this wonderful round for general issue. They do know that the 5.56 is not doing well with the current loadings. With all the wound studies I have read, it seems the 55 grain bullet is best in a 5.56 with a 3,000 fps plus muzzle velocity.

I sure as heck would not want to get shot with a 5.56 or a 6.8 or .308
