| If you are going to use it as a vacation/bugout spot, I would say six hours max. You would want/need to go there throughout the year to vacation and do prepping. Making a spot too far away just makes that all harder.
Someone just can't have a bugout spot that is well thought out a stocked and not have to maintain it to some degree.

| yea its going to be a vaction spot to i was looking to the 4 hour mark so i could leave say on a friday afternoon be thier by early evening
http://www.landandfarm.com/properties/20x20_cabin_on_6_acresstream.asp
this is one of the places im interested in its 6 hours away alil longer than i want but if it is in a rural area as advertised then it might be worth it since it has a basic cabin on it plus it has a stream lil less prep work 6 acres part woods and cleared land

| Nice looking piece of land...
thats a sweet looking cabin too...
I have family that lives about 5 hours from us in West Virginia, and they are in the middle of no where...that might be a good place to look also, if you weren't set on NY.

| I'd like to get a piece of land in northern Maine but I have my doubts about it being a viable BOL. I would think that the highways would be LOADED if the SHTF making it's accessibility difficult. | |

| I'm in my BO spot now. I know that trying to move a family after the SHTF is going to be pretty unlikely for me. Unless there is something toxic in the air that makes me have to leave I'm staying put. | |

| Check you tube I saw finished cabins on there with acrage that were move in ready. Furnished and all the nice things like plumbing and well electricity but still remote enough for shtf... I am with tree of libertyI have been eyeing some land in northern maine that I found on you tube for the same price 20k but was 38 acre and had stream on property startings of a x-mas tree farm for lower taxes..something to consider if you can get declared a farm you get a ton of benefits and tax breaks. Maine is impossible for me to get to in a total shtf situation but if I can see something coming then I can get out and be there like silver back says. We all have to keep informed I am the worst because I have turned off the cable tv years ago and no even my girl friend likes it better. Less noise and propaganda.. | |

| Good on you SP for getting rid of the tube. I wish I could do that. It'll never happen in my house, 2 pre-teen girls and a wife who's addicted to Fox News. Oh well, at least she's a Conservative! | |
