Not sure how many of you guys have pets, but I figured I'd put my 2 cents in about "pet survival"

I have 2 jack russells who will be staying with me if I bug out or in, so I have a small pet BOB that I keep in my regular BOB, which contains:

- 2 Leashes/Collars
- Rabbies Tags (you never know if you might need them for a shelter or something)
- 1 Muzzle (mainly to keep from being bitten during first aid.)
- 3 days of food (normal servings) for each dog (this should be able to stretch much further than 3 days, dogs don't necessarily have to eat full meals every day like we do.)
- And most importantly a small vet kit that has:

*1 Small bottle of child size generic benadryl (12.5 mg is just about right for my 15lb dogs.) this can be used in case of an allergic reaction (obviously) and to help sedate the dogs if they need to calm down.
    *1 Roll of Vet wrap
*1 Bottle of Vet bond (basically the same thing as dermabond for people...first aid superglue)
*1 Bottle (100 pills) of Cephelaxin (Fish Flex)- This is broad spectrum anitbiotic that should take care of most infections from bites or flesh wounds. It is widely available on the internet without a rx, and sold as a fish antibiotic. Fish Flex comes as 250mg pills that are the ideal size for my dogs (dose is around 15mg per pound of body weight.) I would like to have some Clavamox, which is a stronger antibiotic (good enough to wipe out a staff infection) but you can only get it with a rx from a vet.
*1 Bottle Granulex spray (helps clot wounds faster)

Most other first aid supplies that I'd need can be found in my regular first aid kit. I also don't bother with a ball or toys, becuase my dogs are just as happy chasing and chewing on sticks!

With the exception of food and water, dogs don't need much to get by during a survival situation, but I believe that the stuff that I'd bring with me would be helpful in just about any extraordinary situation.

Hope this was worth while...its worth the effort to keep our best friends as happy and healthy as ourselves in a survival situation...its the least we could do in case we have to eat them as a last resort!! Rolling Eyes Laughing

Our dog is a fairly high needs dog(he is blind now) and one issue is to have enough of his meds, which is really only his thyroid meds. He does take other stuff for joints in his food but that is available at stores and lasts a while.

I was planning on getting some #10 cans of chicken and veggies for him and us since that what he eats now, along with some dry food. Pugs don't fair well in the hot weather for long periods of time, not the best survival dog but he would obviously be going with us. Most of the grooming supplies would need to go as you stated to keep him maintained, although I don't think they have muzzles for Pugs. pig

I would never leave my dog behind.

The muzzle is a good idea in the BOB. Cool
